Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College is one of the nation's premier two- year institutions and is located in a community rich in agricultural heritage. NEO's rural atmosphere makes students feel comfortable during their academic term. The faculty and staff at NEO ensure students receive the highest quality education possible whether they are planning to continue their education at a four-year institution or are seeking a two-year associates degree.
Along with outstanding academic programs, NEO offers a wide variety of student activities including nationally recognized judging and athletic programs as well as many other academic and departmental clubs and organizations.
The livestock judging program started at NEO in the late 1940's. Since its beginning, the continual success of NEO's livestock team has allowed the program and its participants to receive many awards and much national recognition.
The judging team competes in numerous contests across the United States . Sanctioned contests include the American Royal in Kansas City, MO; the Northa American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, KY; the National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO; the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Ft . Worth, TX; and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in Houston, TX. Non-sanctioned contests include the Kansas Junior Livestock Show in Wichita, KS; the Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair in Ft. Smith, AR; the Tulsa State Fair in Tulsa, OK; and the Dixie National LIvestock Show and Rodeo in Jackson, MS. NEO also participates in a practice contests at Oklahoma State University in preperation for the fall contests and assists in numerous contests and clinics throughout the year.
Most judging team members at NEO elect to continue their education at a four-year institution. Members are actively recruited by senior college coaches to participate in their judging programs. Experience gained at NEO builds the foundation necessary for continued success in senior college and initiates the development of many nationally recognized industry leaders.
