Theatre

Theatre NEO mounts four Main Stage productions every year in their 875 seat proscenium auditorium, consisting of a children’s show which performs for more than 3500 elementary school students from the Four-State area, a major musical in conjunction with the Music Program, and two full-length dramas or comedies. In addition to the Fine Arts Auditorium, Theatre NEO also uses the NEW 120 seat Recital Hall in Commons for additional performances. Also, the Speech/Theater program combines with the Music program to produce a Medieval Feast during the Christmas holiday season.

The Masquers Club, which is open to all students, gives students an opportunity to tour other campuses and see other productions, culminating in an awards banquet in which students are recognized for outstanding performance and contributions to the Theatre Program.

The Speech/Theatre program at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College offers a comprehensive Associate of Arts Degree. Classes in the area of Performance and Technical Theatre provide a variety of options for those interested in a future in professional, educational or amateur Theatre.

A fully equipped scene shop, a computerized light board, newly renovated sound system, a full costume shop as well as a modern dressing room and make up facilities create an excellent working environment for the theatre student.

The curriculum provides the student with a wide variety of technical and performances classes to fit each individual’s interest. At NEO we believe in the value of practical hands on experience in addition to traditional lecture based information. This information provides the means for the student to continue on with their college career as well as a solid foundation for a professional future in theatre.
