Serving as assistant coach for the Golden Norsemen this season will be Justin Barkley.  He comes to NEO after an illustrious career at Northeastern State University, where he served the last three years on the NSU coaching staff.  He served one year as a student assistant and the past two years as Graduate Assistant Coach for the Redmen.

Prior to serving on the coaching staff at NSU, he was a member of the Redmen basketball team, setting unprecedented records, including the 2003 NCAA Division II National Championship.  While at NSU, Barkley was one of two players who set a school record for most career wins with 107 in his four-year stint. Barkley is no stranger to Oklahoma basketball and winning championships.  He was a 1999 Oklahoma All State player at Inola High School where he helped guide his team to a State Championship.  In addition, Coach Barkley also participated on a National Championship AAU team.

Coach Barkley obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Education, as well as a Masters Degree in Health and Kinesiology from Northeastern State University.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to be affiliated with NEO basketball.  I believe our team will be exciting to watch as we meet the challenge of each game with our players.” Barkley stated when asked about his thoughts on this season.
