The Pre-Nursing program at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College is designed to prepare students for transfer into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at a four-year college or university. Students complete general education courses, biological and physical science courses, social science courses, behavioral science courses, and other support courses required for admission into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Students who complete the requirements for the Pre-Nursing program at NEO College are awarded an Associate in Science degree.

Students can pursue a BSN degree in two ways:

  • After completing the required general education and support courses, students complete the nursing courses in a bachelor degree nursing program. Upon successful completion of the program and approval by the state board of nursing, students may take the licensure examination for registered nurses.
  • Registered nurses who obtained an associate degree in nursing can pursue a bachelor degree in nursing upon completion of required general education and support courses.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs at four-year colleges and universities have specific admission requirements, which vary by program. These requirements may include, but are not limited to, the student’s grade point average, scores on a pre-entrance exam, and courses completed. Students must make formal application for admission to a nursing program. Upon admission to the nursing program, students will be required to meet additional requirements for continued enrollment, such as criminal background checks and immunizations.

NEO advisors will assist students in developing a plan of study that best fits the student’s transfer plans. Students are encouraged to seek advisement from the four-year college or university for which they plan to attend prior to transfer.
