The Honors Program at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College has two levels of admission into the program: full membership and provisional. Acceptance into the program at the full membership level immediately provides students all the benefits of being a member of the honors program (see Honors Program Benefits)
Provisional membership allows a pathway for promising students to become full members and to take honors courses at NEO. However, students accepted at the provisional membership are not eligible for the benefits available to full members.
Students who are not interested in applying for provisional or full membership may still take honors courses at NEO if they meet the requirements for full admission. However, priority is given to full and provisional members in all honors courses.
At this time, only full-time students are eligible to become members. Additionally, online courses are not eligible as honors courses, so distance learners who apply must take honors-only course sections or honors contracted work on campus in traditional (face to face) course sections.
For provisional admission, students must meet one of the following requirements:
Composite ACT score of 24 or higher
GPA of 3.5 or higher from accredited high school (Note: If twelve or more college credit hours have been earned, a student must have a minimum 3.5 GPA for those credits to be eligible)
Ranking in top 10% of high school graduating class
After admission on a provisional basis, eligible students must complete two NEO honors courses with grades of A or B, maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA, and be a full-time student to be eligible for full membership into the program.
(Note: The Honors Leadership course and honors contract courses do not qualify as NEO honors course requirements for full admission.)
For full admission (membership) into the Honors Program at NEO, students must meet two of the following requirements:
- Composite ACT score of 24 or higher
- GPA of 3.5 or higher from accredited high school
- Ranking in top 10% of high school graduating class
- GPA of 3.5 of higher on minimum 12 earned credit hours at a regionally accredited college
- Completion of two NEO honors credit courses with grades of A or B (Note this requirement is for students granted with provisional admission to the honors program only)
