Meet An

An is a Sophomore at NEO.

What excites you the most about NEO GOLD?

As a sophomore I’ve taking several online classes and I know they can be rough to tackle on your own. Therefore, I’m excited to share my experiences with my mentees and help them succeed during their time here at NEO.

What’s your favorite food?

Chicken nuggets are my go to since I was a baby

What’s the best class you’ve ever taken?

Calculus 1 was probably my favorite because my teacher was basically a human calculator and had so much love for teaching math. Which in return made learning even better.

What is your favorite movie?

I love musicals so Grease would have to be mine.

What would people be surprised to find out about you?

That I was born in Okinawa, Japan.

What is one of your hobbies?

Playing the trumpet! I’ve been playing for about 8 years now and love every second of it.

What did you do wrong or right when you took online classes?

I would always check the page every day and see if there was anything new added. I would make sure I wrote down when things where due and have reminders so I wouldn’t miss the due date.

What’s your favorite holiday?

Mine would probably have to be Christmas. I love having the family all get together for dinner and having some quality time to unwind and talk about our lives.

What would you go viral for on the Internet?

It would probably be me falling off the stage or somewhere embarrassing in public.

What would be your ideal superpower?

This is a tough one… I’d have to pick invisibility.

“I love NEO because the Staff here want you to succeed and want the best for you. NEO may be a junior college but the campus gives you an at home feel that you won’t get at other places. I love that NEO strives to make your first years out of high school the best and helps to prepare you for your next big step in life.”

Meet Amber

Amber is a Freshman at NEO.

What excites you the most about NEO GOLD?

Being able to help those in need! I’m excited to be able to give tips and resources that I wish I had known when I first took online classes.

What’s your favorite food?

Pizza, I could live off pizza. Pepperoni with peppers is the best!

What’s the best class you’ve ever taken?

Gen Psych with Dr. Deichman. I did not know how much I loved psychology until I watched her teach with so much passion.

What is your favorite movie?

Love and Basketball, I don’t even play, but watching her prove that women can do what men can do is the best!

What would people be surprised to find out about you?

That I am shy. People always see me as the outgoing person of the group. But in reality, I am very shy.

What is one of your hobbies?

I have cheered 13 years, I am a part of the NEO Coed cheer team. This is the hobby I spend most of my time doing. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family.

What did you do wrong or right when you took online classes?

I took advantage of longer deadlines; my online professor gave out all assignments for the week and gave a week or longer. I ended up procrastinating thinking I had plenty of time, which just hurt me in the long run. Big mistake!

What’s your favorite holiday?

Christmas by far. I love that time of year. Christmas has always been my family’s biggest holiday. It just brings a different attitude and atmosphere to me. I always enjoy my church’s candlelight service as well.

What would you go viral for on the Internet?

Most likely being the world’s worst driver.

What would be your ideal superpower?

To fly, it would be so easy to travel the world!

“I love how close knit everyone is at NEO. You always fill like you’re a part of something bigger. The classroom sizes help develop a relationship with your professor, making it easier to communicate with them. They also can figure out how you learn and what is better for each student. NEO all around is just like a family, always backing each other up.”

Meet Alexandria

Alexandria is a Freshman at NEO.

What excites you the most about NEO GOLD?

I’m so excited to help people and being a mentor is one way to help students with online classes. I’m glad this program exists because there were so many questions I had about online things when I first took a high school online class.

What’s your favorite food?

My favorite food would have to be sushi and miso.

What’s the best class you’ve ever taken?

The best class would be an Algebra II class I took back in high school. Mostly because that teacher taught me more than I ever wanted to know about math.

What is your favorite movie?

That’d have to be Patch Adams.

What would people be surprised to find out about you?

As musical as I am, I can’t whistle to save my life.

What is one of your hobbies?

I love to paint. Whenever I have free time of course.

What did you do wrong or right when you took online classes?

The worst thing I did with online classes is put assignments off. When I waited to do them then they would pile up or I couldn’t turn them in. Do NOT procrastinate!!

What’s your favorite holiday?

My favorite holiday is Christmas. I’m not a big fan of the cold weather, but I love being surrounded by loved ones that time of year.

What would you go viral for on the Internet?

Maybe for singing?? I would sure hope so.

What would be your ideal superpower?

To fly! Or maybe to have a super humanly smart brain. OR to grow flowers and stuff. I think that’d be fun.

“I love how personal it feels here at NEO. The classes aren’t too big so you can always go to teachers and ask questions if you need. The campus has fun activities so I’m not cooped up in my dorm the entire time. And the people are phenomenal.”
