Officials at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) announced Dr. Brian Arnall as a co-recipient of this year’s Outstanding Young Alumni award. Dr. Arnall will be formally honored during the Alumni Awards luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 5, at noon in the Calcagno Family Ballroom. All alumni and friends of the college are invited to attend. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under, and may be purchased by contacting the NEO Development Foundation office at 918-540-6115. NEO’s “HOMEcoming on the Range” homecoming festivities will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019.

Dr. Arnall is a Professor in the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Department of Plant and Soil Science. He graduated from NEO in 2000 with a degree in agriculture. A Wyandotte High School graduate, Dr. Arnall grew up among farmers and fields, but under the mentorship of NEO instructors Dr. Pete Smith and Roger Fent set Dr. Arnall on his path in agronomy. Following NEO, he transferred to OSU and completed his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in soil fertility.

In addition to his work as a professor, Dr. Arnall serves as an Extension Precision Nutrient Management Specialist. As an extension specialist, he is tasked with delivering research outcomes to area farmers to improve the quality and yield of their crop. He also has the opportunity to bring the issues of producers into the classroom to promote practical student learning. Since being named an associate professor in 2014, Dr. Arnall has also increased research output. He has published over 50 academic journal articles, written four book chapters, created nearly 200 extension tools, and taught over 1,200 students.

Dr. Arnall and his wife Courtney live in the Stillwater area and have two children who are active 4H members. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and cross-country running.   “It is an honor to recognize Dr. Brian Arnall and one of this year’s Outstanding Young Alumnus,” said Jennifer Walker, executive director of NEO Development Foundation.  “Dr. Arnall has proven himself to be a leader in the field of Plant and Soil Science.  He has taken his passion and passed it along to countless Ag students at Oklahoma State University.” For more information, contact Jordan Adams at Jordan.m.adams@neo.edu.
