Welcome from the Foundation Chair
Welcome to our new Foundation web page. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share with our alumni and friends what we are about.
Picture Miami in the 1950’s. It was a vibrant town. Goodrich was the main employer. Main Street had not yet been revamped. Dr. Bruce Carter was president of NEO. We also had the muddy Neosho River. It flooded not once but twice in that time period and left many families in dire straits. Their businesses and homes flooded. There were Miamians who wanted to attend NEO, but family savings had been depleted. That is when the Foundation stepped in with scholarship funds and enabled a college education to become a reality for those who couldn’t afford it. I know this, because I was one of them.
The Foundation still steps in to enable capable, deserving students to pursue their dreams of a college education. Just this year alone, we have provided assistance in some form, be it tuition, books, housing, etc., in the amount of more than $65,000 and helped 120 students. We don’t want to deny any worthy student. NEO is in the business of changing lives through education. Education is the key to having better prepared students to strengthen our country and our economy. So, we ask you to join with us in giving generously to the NEO Foundation. You can make a real difference in a person’s life—what a joy, what a gift!
Welcome from the Director
Dear Alumni and Friends,
It is an honor to serve as Executive Director of the NEO Development Foundation. As a native of Miami and NEO alum, I am proud to be a third generation of NEO graduates, so my roots as a Norseman run deep.
From academics to athletics, the NEO Foundation has worked to support student scholarships, faculty development, building projects, and campus initiatives. Founded in 1983, the NEO Foundation has awarded more than $1 million dollars in scholarship funding to deserving NEO students. For many of these students, realizing the dream of a college education would not be possible without support from the NEO Foundation.
Led by an enthusiastic Board of Trustees, the NEO Foundation has experienced dramatic growth the past few years. By focusing investments on long-term growth while balancing the wishes of our donors with the needs of the college, the Foundation has nearly $6 million in assets.
We remain grateful to our alumni and friends for the tremendous support of the NEO Foundation. On behalf of the students, faculty and staff of NEO A&M College, thank you for your generosity. Together we will continue to carry on the tradition that makes each of us proud to call ourselves Norsemen.
Once a Norseman, Always a Norseman,
