Officials at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) announced Mr. Jonas Rabel as this year’s Outstanding Young Alumnus. Rabel will be formally honored during the Alumni Awards luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 13, at noon in the Calcagno Family Ballroom. All alumni and friends of the college are invited to attend. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under, and may be purchased by contacting the NEO Development Foundation office at 918-540-6115. NEO’s “May the Norse Be with You” homecoming festivities will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018.

Rabel is one of Miami’s most prominent young success stories. A graduate of Miami High School, he first attended NEO concurrently in 1999 and as a freshman in 2001, and was an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM). When Rabel began the nursing program in 2003, he continued his campus involvement by living and interning at the BCM. Under the mentorship of Tammy McNiel and Julie McFerron, Rabel completed the program in 2004 and became a staff nurse in the cardiovascular intensive care unit at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. He joined INTEGRIS at the Grove Hospital in 2010 as a team manager and within a year, was promoted to the clinical director of the emergency department in Grove.

Over the next seven years, Rabel worked his way through the INTEGRIS system, ultimately becoming the president of INTEGRIS Miami Hospital in 2017. Now in his second full year, Rabel is dedicated to providing excellent patient care and lending the expertise of INTEGRIS Miami to the rest of the hospitals in the INTEGRIS system.

Jonas and his wife Erin have three children, Eli, Addi, and Olivia, and when he’s not working or spending time with his family, he plays bass guitar for his church and enjoys endurance running. He completed an Iron Man triathlon race in 2015 and continues to exercise at the NEO Student Activity Center each morning. “It is an honor to recognize Jonas Rabel as this year’s outstanding young alumnus,” said Jennifer Walker, executive director of the NEO Development Foundation. “Jonas has been very committed to serving the healthcare care needs of our community and state, and because of his tireless dedication to the healthcare industry, he has proven himself to be a true leader.” For more information, contact Jordan Adams at Jordan.m.adams@neo.edu.
