What technology do I need to complete my coursework?
- Access to a reliable internet connection
- Access to an internet capable device (for example: laptop, tablet, iPad, etc.)
- Webcam, headphones/earbuds, and/or microphone (For use with ProctorU, NEO’s online test proctoring service)
- Flash drive to back up course files

Smarthinking
Using Smarthinking, you will experience online tutoring that’s fast, simple, and convenient. Smarthinking provide easy access to expert tutors–on demand or by appointment–across a wide range of subjects—up to 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The tutors average over nine years of teaching or online tutoring experience, with 90 percent having a master’s degree or PhD. You will find additional information and access to Smarthinking on NEOs tutoring webpage.
You can also access Smarthinking through D2L (NEO’s learning management system). Look for the link on your “My Home” and your “Course Home Page”.
Learning Resource Center
Access library services to check out e-books, ask the librarian, or access the EBSCO Database which has newspaper articles, magazines, e-books, photographs, maps, and other materials on a wide variety of topics.
ProctorU
ProctorU allows you to take exams from any comfortable location with a reliable internet connection. Forget complicated software or robots! This service connects you to a real person who you can see and hear. This person will walk you through the exam process and help you if you run into any problems.
One of the major exams in your online course at NEO will be a proctored exam. You may take the exam by coming to campus as directed by your instructor OR you may take the proctored exam using ProctorU. You are responsible for the fees involved in using this service, usually $17-$25. Detailed pricing information is included in this module.
Use the NEO ProctorU Portal to sign Up for ProctorU and schedule your exam. Remember to use your NEO email credentials. Check out the short, informational videos to learn more about the service.
