Basketball season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) is one month away, and Head Coaches Dustin Grover and Jim Rowland are preparing to defend their titles. Lady Norse Basketball won their conference last year with an impressive 17-1 record. “Losing is always tough,” said Jim Rowland, head coach of the Lady Norse. “We would have liked to have had a perfect season, but at the same time losing our last game took a little pressure off before heading to the Region II tournament. We are definitely excited about defending our title.”

Dustin Grover, head coach of the Golden Norse is also looking to defend a title. The Golden Norse were the Region II champions last year. Grover said, “Last year we went into the Region II tournament slightly underestimated. We had a very tough game in the semifinals against Connors State with five overtimes. Both teams were exhausted. When we won that game, I knew we would win the championship. We are looking forward to defending the title.”

Rowland and Grover are both starting their 10th season as head coaches for NEO. In 2014 Rowland was awarded the Oklahoma Collegiate Coaches Association (OCCA) Coach of the Year award.  Grover was presented with the 2014 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) District II Coach of the Year award.
