The Athletic Department at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) will be honoring Rylee Bayless at halftime of the NEO vs. Blinn football game on Thursday, Oct. 27. Bayless was named the NJCAA Female Athlete of the Year for 2015-16 based on her exceptional performance with NEO Softball. As the leadoff hitter and third baseman for Lady Norse softball, Bayless was a key member of the winningest class in program history. NEO racked up 104 wins over two years, with Bayless establishing 14 new school records and setting a national record of 251 career hits. Bayless is also the first player in the history of NJCAA softball to be honored as two-time National Player of the Year.

In 2016, Bayless was the first NEO athlete to be recognized as the NJCAA Female Athlete of the Year by winning the Betty Jo Graber Award. “I am very proud of the accomplishments of all my teams and players,” said Eric Iverson, head coach for Lady Norse Softball. “Rylee is a true athlete. Her work ethic, love of the game and dedication to her team made her successful. We are very proud of her.”

The recognition will take place on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016 during halftime of the football game between NEO Golden Norsemen and the Blinn Buccaneers. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. For more information, contact Lisa Severe at lsevere@neo.edu.
