Officials at NEO announced that Judge Kassie McCoy has been selected as the recipient for this year’s Outstanding Young Alumna. Traditionally recognized in coordination with NEO Football Homecoming, NEO is planning to recognize this year’s honorees during a spring 2021 ceremony.

Growing up in Miami, Okla., McCoy originally wanted to become an English teacher. While in high school, she completed concurrent enrollment courses and eventually her associate degree at NEO. As a student, she found a passion for the political process, even attending political conventions and volunteering with the campaigns of District Attorney Eddie Wyant and Judge Robert Haney. Following NEO, she continued to pursue politics, serving as the Secretary for the Young Democrats of Oklahoma and working as the campaign manager for Sean Burage’s successful 2006 Oklahoma Senate District 2 campaign. After completing law school at Oklahoma City University, she served as an associate attorney for the Taylor Foster Law Firm for seven years. In 2018, McCoy was elected as Rogers Country Associate District Judge following the retirement of Judge Dwayne Steidley.
