Mr. Steve Dixon has been selected to succeed Dr. Mark Grigsby as the Math and Science Department Chair. Grigsby is retiring after three decades of teaching, over twenty years of that serving as a department chair. Under Dr. Grigsby’s tenure, NEO developed the highly successful Process Technology Program. “We are excited about the addition of Steve Dixon to our academic leadership team,” said Dr. Jeff Hale. “Steve has some very big leadership shoes to fill after the retirement of long time department chair, Dr. Mark Grigsby. I don’t think it’s a secret to anyone who follows education in Oklahoma that mathematics continues to be our greatest subject matter challenge. We have great confidence in Steve, and I look forward to watching him and his colleagues as they work to create a more successful pathway forward for students through our Math and Science department.”

Dixon earned his Bachelor of Science in Math Education from Missouri Southern State University and a Master of Science in Mathematics from Pittsburg State University, and has served as an instructor at NEO for 9 years. Dixon is a student favorite and his classes are some of the first to fill each semester. “I’m excited to be working at NEO because every day brings a new opportunity to help students learn about themselves, develop goals, and simply be better people with promising futures,” Dixon said. “NEO is filled with other instructors and administration who share my passion. Simply put, I believe no other institution in this area comes close to what we provide on the campus of NEO.” Dixon and his wife Shannon have two sons: Cade and Cole, both of whom are currently attending NEO.
