Miami, Oklahoma – Tuesday, July 14, 2020 – NEO will move all fall- and winter-start sports to spring 2021 following a decision by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Board of Regents.
Affected sports at NEO:
Football – spring season to begin March 25, 2021
Men’s and Women’s Soccer – spring season to begin April 2, 2021
Volleyball – spring season to begin January 29, 2021
Men’s and Women’s Basketball – spring season to begin January 22, 2021
Wrestling – spring season to begin January 20, 2021
“The Association as a whole is collectively working to provide the best opportunities to be successful on and off the field for our student-athletes,” said Dr. Christopher J. Parker, NJCAA President in a statement.
“The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, and fans is always priority number one,” said Joe Renfro, NEO Athletic Director. “We will be coordinating with the NJCAA as we shift these schedules and look forward to carrying on the Norse tradition of athletic excellence.”
Under the NJCAA plan, sports originally scheduled for the fall and winter will be able to participate in limited practice and external scrimmages, while spring seasons will have a cap on the number of games allowed for each sport.
