The directors of the Choir and Theatre programs at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) are hosting a one day summer intensive on June 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for high school students grades 10-12 and recent high school graduates. The one-day immersive workshop provides students with a choir or theatre option. The intensive begins as a group, and then separates into the two disciplines with theatre students training in the dance studio and on stage in the Fine Arts Center, and Choir students in the Swanson Family Music Hall. “The High School Choral Intensive Workshop is a new program offered to high school singers who love to sing and are considering careers in music,” said Dr. Tatiana Taylor, Director of Choirs at NEO. “Students have an opportunity to elevate their singing and musicianship skills in this one-day intensive workshop.”

Choir Option

  • Masterclass with Dr. Taylor
  • Participate in Ensemble Rehearsals
  • Attain Skills for College Auditions
  • Practice Yoga for Singers
  • Build Supportive Music Skills in a Musicianship Class
  • Perform in a Recital and the Awards Ceremony

“The theatre intensive will cover acting and stagecraft from an audience point of view,” said Aaron Smith, NEO Theatre Artistic Director. “The emphasis is design, even on the tech side. Practical methods to incorporate audience experience into the smallest details.” The cost to attend the intensive is $45 per person and includes lunch. Federal and institutional financial aid does not apply. However, high school drama, choir, or activity funds may cover the cost of attendance. Students are encouraged to reach out to their teachers or counselors. Waivers may also be available for those who qualify. Contact the directors in advance.
