Miami, Oklahoma – Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College rodeo team members Shane Jenkins, Jaiden Wilmoth, and two-time qualifier and men’s all-around winner Zane Kilgus qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, June 12-18, 2022.

NEO Rodeo finished the season strong, competing in the Central Plains Region. The women’s team placed first in the junior college division and fifth overall, and the men’s team placed third in the junior college division and seventh overall.

The team traveled to Panhandle State University in Guymon, Oklahoma, from April 29 to May 1 for the last rodeo of the season. Bailey Stuva placed first in barrel racing, and Jaiden Wilmoth placed ninth in the long-go round. Baylee Lester placed first in the long-go round in breakaway roping, and Taylor Dunk finished ninth. Jessie Ishmael placed third in the average in goat tying.

Zane Kilgus placed fifth in the average in calf roping, Jacoby Dressler placed first in the long-go round in steer wrestling, and Shane Jenkins rounded out the men’s team at sixth place in the average in team roping.

“The 2021-2022 season was a huge success for our rodeo program,” said NEO Rodeo coach Kolby Ungeheuer. “I couldn’t be more pleased with how our team competed all year long. This is by far the youngest group of rodeo athletes I have ever had, and they competed the most consistently as any team I have ever had.”

NEO Rodeo finished with 12 students in the top 15 regional standings in their respective events. Ungeheuer called the season a huge accomplishment. Both NEO teams placed first and third in junior college placings, and in the top seven overall.

“It is so hard to compete against senior colleges,” said Ungeheuer. “Zane Kilgus becoming NEO’s first All-Around Champion Cowboy is a big deal for us, and taking three students to the CNFR is a huge success.”
