Officials at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) announced the The Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma as the recipient for of this year’s Award of Merit.  We will continue honoring our Alumni in the coming weeks. The Alumni Banquet will be postponed until the Spring of 2022.

The Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma is a confederation of four tribes united into a single tribe in 1854 with their headquarters located in Miami.  The Peoria Tribe has been a great supporter of NEO for many years. In 2019, the Tribe purchased a donated building from the NEO Development Foundation, which provided financial support to NEO students.  The Peoria Tribe regularly supports the American Indian Center for Excellence located in KahNe Hall on NEO’s campus.  The Peoria Tribe has leased the vacant early childhood center on campus and plans to open the KahNe Learning Academy, a head start program, in that space later this fall which will provide an on-campus learning laboratory for NEO students majoring in early childhood.

The Peoria Tribe also regularly supports NEO Athletics serving as a major sponsor for the installation of a new scoreboard for baseball and most recently as the gameday sponsor for football during the 2021 spring football season.  This summer, NEO announced the addition of its eSports program thanks to a partnership with The Peoria Tribe at Buffalo Run Casino and Resort.  Buffalo Run’s eSports lab is the home of NEO eSports which provides the team with 35 computers and 13 consoles.
