Officials at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (NEO) College have announced Mr. Bennie Crossland, president of Crossland Construction, will serve as the 2015 commencement speaker for this year’s graduation ceremony. Graduation will take place Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Red Robertson Field. “NEO has meant so much to the Crossland family. Our dad, Ivan Crossland, Sr., graduated from NEO and that set the foundation for him to grow the Crossland family business into a Top 100 Contractor in the United States,” Crossland said.

Crossland Construction is ranked as a Top 100 Contractor in the United States by Engineering News Record and has crossed the prairie, going from a local player in Columbus, Kansas to a firm with a strong regional base. The company designs, builds, and manages construction of government, education, healthcare, retail, and other buildings from eight offices in Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado.

After college, Crossland enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, where he was promoted four times, finally attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was also an expert rifleman.  He was honorably discharged from the Corp. Crossland has had the opportunity to serve in various positions through his years of service to the communities he has been a part of and his company. Some of those positions include: past national director of Associated General Contractors of America, past president and current Board of Director for the Associated General Contractors of Kansas, past director of Leadership Missouri, Board of Directors St. John’s/Mercy Foundation, 2009 class president of Leadership Missouri, president of Stoa Ministries International, Board of Directors of Bright Futures U.S.A. and many more titles that follow Crossland’s name.

Crossland Construction Company counts many nationally known companies as customers, including Harley-Davidson, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Target, Marriott Hotels, Embassy Suites, Baker Hughes, Schlumberger and a variety of school districts and municipalities. Crossland Construction builds everything from office buildings and warehouses to veteran’s memorials and airports. The company was founded by Ivan Crossland Sr. in 1978. “During my time in Miami, I have developed immense respect for the Crossland family, and I really appreciate the support they have for NEO,” said NEO President Dr. Jeff Hale. “Bennie and his family have played a critical role in the growth and improvements made at NEO A&M College.”
